Anti-Greed

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

~ Galatians 5:13, NLT

I am appalled and frightened at how prevalent greed is in our American society today and how so many politicians and business executives are abusing their powers for self gain. It's especially frightening because I feel so powerless to do anything about it. Today Air 1 had this quote for its verse of the day and it's so true. It's the anti-greed, if we could just get everyone to believe it and do it.

More cocktail napkin wisdom . . . this time about cocktails themselves

"Wine is proof god loves us and wants us to be happy."
~Ben Franklin

Seen in the gift shop at The Tides Inn, Irvington, VA, with the Butterfly Friends (right before the Girl Scouts 100th Birthday Singalong on the National Mall).

Cocktail napkin wisdom

Oh so true.

I currently have 3 benefits of a good forgetter that I've collected over time and quote quite often. I'm not sure if I should replace one with this or add it to the list or just know that there are additional benefits.

My 3 benefits:

1. Forgive and forget is easy. Skip forgive, go straight to forget, and you can't hold a grudge.
2. When your old auntie tells you the same boring story for the 20th time, you can listen intently as if hearing it for the first time.
3. You can hide your own Easter eggs.

Consistency

Not sure if this is really true or just a great excuse for those who are inconsistent and imaginative. (As seen in Irvington VA.)

A fanatic

In Irvington, VA on the Chesapeake Bay, we ate breakfast every morning at a cute little shop in town called "The Local." It was in a row of quaint shops all connected yet all separated by white picket fences and these cute little signs with insightful quotes poked out of the ground in strategic spots. Just as you finished chuckling at one, there was another.

Tacky but clever

More wisdom from a come from a tea towel? (Seen in the gift shop at The Tides Inn in Irvington, VA on the Chesapeake Bay.)

Southern Diplomacy

Who knew such wisdom could come from a tea towel? (Seen in the gift shop at The Tides Inn in Irvington, VA on the Chesapeake Bay.)
