And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Romans 8:26, NLT
I've always loved and found comfort in knowing that when I don't know what to pray for, the Holy Spirit does and can take care of that for me. For example, I know a friend is having troubles but I don't know what they are, I can just pray, "Holy Spirit, whatever it is that s/he needs right now, that's what I'm praying for." And I know it will be done.

Really love them
Don't just pretend to
love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what
is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in
honoring each other.
Romans 12:9-10, NLT
Oh pretend love is hard but often still much easier than real love. Is it a step along the way to real love or does it create a barrier to real love?

Hope
I pray that God, the
source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you
trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the
power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13, NLT
I remember when John Wiley Price, a well-known Dallas County Commissioner from South Dallas, came to speak at Leadership Richardson. He spoke about the differences between South Dallas and North Dallas. He said that the worst thing that can happen to a human is to lose hope. He talked about how kids in gangs and people who commit heinous crimes, even killing random strangers, don't care because they have no hope. Hope is so powerful and so important in our lives. I pray that I will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit! I will and must continue to trust in God, the source of hope and I thank Him daily that he completely fills me with joy and peace (and continues to do that, even on the days when I get sidetracked and don't focus on Him and trust in Him).

How to handle work...willingly
Work willingly at
whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for
people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your
reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

Labor Day Reflection
Unless this love is among us, we can kill ourselves with work and it will only be work, not love. Work without love is slavery.
